St. Pete is about to get smaller—in the most delightful way possible. A new miniature art gallery, built to a precise 1:12 scale, will soon open to the public and offer an unexpected window into Tampa Bay’s rich creative culture.
Crafted as part of a grant-funded project by artist Merritt Horan Capurro, the “St. Pete Mini Gallery” is a mobile, three-story structure that fits on a 2’x3’ base—complete with lighting, display pedestals, and rotating miniature exhibitions. But this tiny treasure isn’t just for looking—it’s for engaging.
“Think of it like a Little Free Library, but for art,” says Horan. “You can visit, explore the exhibit, and if you’re an artist, you’re welcome to swap out a piece with your own miniature creation.”
Visitors can expect an ever-changing collection of micro-artworks—from paintings the size of a matchbook to magnetic sculptures and pint-sized prints. Each piece is created or donated by a local artist participating in a free art exchange program.
This project is made possible thanks to the Arts Impact Grant from Creative Pinellas and the City of St. Petersburg. The miniature gallery is more than a display—it's an invitation to connect, create, and celebrate the imagination thriving in every corner of Tampa Bay.
Whether you're a lifelong art lover or just a fan of tiny things, the St. Pete Mini Gallery promises something magical in every visit. Follow the project online for behind-the-scenes peeks and opening announcements.
